Many people don't know how to react when they get business card and what they can do with it.
Some of us just put card to wallet or card case, even we can met people who put card to pocket.
Others throw card to big pile.
This usage of business cards is worthless.
Below I will say what I do and what can be done, how to react when someone give it to you.
- Like I mentioned above that there are people who put card to their pocket.
I strongly don't recommend doing that.
This gesture can be understood as disrespect.
The simplest and cheapest way is to put card in the wallet.
I use cards case and recommend buying it.
- When you receive card I suggest giving one of yours.
This would be like exchanges.
Always thank for it.
- When you receive card you can note something about person.
It can help to identify him later.
For example you can write: "Dark hair", "Good humor sense", "Tall" and other details.
- Write what you have to do for him, or what he has to do for you.
Maybe he has to send you pack of samples, or you have to call for him.
- Write a grade on it.
I usually note small character on card corners.
If this card or person is very important I write "A".
If it is daily, simple card I write C.
You can use different techniques.
I know people who fold small part of card corner.
For example if he fold upper right corner it mean "Interesting" it is equal to mine "A".
I can say that this technique is better than mine because you can at the same time when you received card do this.
I have to wait the moment when I am alone to write mark.
Also you can make our own technique.
For example you can put cards in different places of your wallet or pockets.
But like I mentioned above, try to avoid pockets.
- If those cards don't have any importance to you don't throw it away.
You can use their design like example for your cards.
It can give good ideas for you own design.
I hear one person saying that if someone gives to you card which you probably throw away then just don't take it.
I strongly disagree with this statement.
You can ask why.
Firstly, what I have to say to that person "Thank you, but I am not interested" or maybe "Sorry I don't need it".
In my opinion it is very impolite gesture.
Cards don't cost so much that you have to save it.
Take it and then you can do with it whatever you want.
When you receive card always be polite, pay few seconds and look how card looks.
Don't hurry to put it in wallet.
And the last advice would be, if you want to get someone's card, firstly give one of yours.
I almost guarantee that he or she will also give you one.
