Twitter has a place in any sort of business.
In businesses that are not customer facing twitter is useful as in any other business for mass communication.
Communication simultaneously to all personnel or teams without cost and with one transmission must be of value.
Businesses which are customer facing, either supply a service such as consultancy, advice or training, or a product, either physically real or virtual.
These businesses can be large or small and be local or multi national.
Twitter is relevant in all these circumstances.
Very few businesses would claim that a website was not an asset.
However many of them would say that their websites were not visited enough and often spend large sums of money on SEO, AdWords and Pay Per Click.
A business with downloadable products can of course grow exponentially, limited only by their ability to reach large numbers of people through social media marketing and internet marketing.
The same is possible with any business operating as a wholesaler or factor, but is not involved in any manufacture or warehousing.
Twitter is one of the best and fastest methods to use to drive targeted traffic to a website and providing there is an efficient landing page that will capture contact details of interested consumers to follow up with either direct contact or with an email campaign.
Twitter is very flexible for campaigns as consumers from specific areas can be targeted either because the business or service is local or because the strategy is to roll out a campaign in an orderly way.
