Cleaning House - Getting Rid of Clothes With the Rule of Two

When it comes to household clutter, a big problem can be having too many clothes to fit in your drawers or your closet.
There's a simple thing called the rule of two that can help you, though.
It has three parts.
The first part of the rule of two is not to keep anything that is two sizes or more too small or too large for you.
Weights do fluctuate, but not usually drastically.
There's no point in keeping things that don't fit you.
Instead, donate them, yard sale them or give them to friends and family.
Part two of the rule of two is that anything that you haven't worn in two years can definitely go.
Although, every rule has exceptions.
If you have a specific outfit that you like to wear to weddings and you haven't had to go to a wedding during that two years, for example, you can keep the one outfit.
The third part of the rule of two is that any new clothes that you bought more than two months ago and still haven't worn are clothes that you just don't need.
It's easy to buy something because it's on sale or it catches your eye and then toss it in a closet or a drawer and forget all about it.
Then, before you know it, your drawers and closets are bursting at the seams.
Once you have the three parts of the rule of two in mind, it's easy to clean out your clothing clutter.
Just get boxes or bags for those things that you need to donate.
Also, don't forget that anything with holes or stains should be instantly thrown out.
So, you'll also need a bucket for trash.
Pretty soon, you'll actually be able to open your closet doors and your dresser drawers without having to duck for cover.
Finally, when donating clothing to charity, it's always important to check the rules and regulations that the organization abides by.
Most charities will have websites that you can check or you may have to call up and ask a staff member what is appropriate to donate and what is not.
If certain items that you would like to donate do not fit the bill, you may have to either just throw them out, or, if you happen to live in a major city, you may able to give them to a homeless person directly.
