Chautala always benefitted his family, CM Hooda

CHANDIGARH: Haryana Chief Minister, Bhupinder Singh Hooda launched a scathing attack on the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) saying that even the workers of this party believe that during the tenure of INLD rule, only the Chautala family has been benefitted.

The Chief Minister, who was addressing a largely attended €Navyug rally' in Pehowa, said that during those days of INLD rule, three €gathris' (bundle) used to be taken away for the father and the sons. It was satisfying that their Government lasted for only six years.

Despite this, they have land or any other property at prominent places and bus stands in all cities. While referring to the cases going on in different courts of Delhi, Mr Hooda said that he was not in habit of criticizing others, but all were aware of the truth and they were bearing the consequences of their deeds.

The Chief Minister, who was addressing the rally after laying the foundation stones of a canal rest house, sewerage treatment plant and a bridge over Saraswati Drain to be constructed at a cost of about Rs 11 crore in Pehowa, also announced a bonanza of incentives for the residents of the area.

These included Rs 10 crore for development of villages of the Pehowa constituency and Rs five crore for the local municipality. He also announced that apart from setting up a government college and a big hospital in Pehowa, Ismailabad would be given the status of block and a new building of community health centre would be constructed at Jhansa.

Hooda said that since 2005, the present Government has so far spent over Rs 345.55 crore for developmental works in Pehowa whereas INLD-BJP Government had spent merely Rs 95.69 crore for the same purpose during six years. Similarly, in Kurukshetra district, the present Government has spent Rs 1667.28 crore as against merely 445.96 crore spent by previous INLD-BJP Government.

The Chief Minister said that during last seven years, the present State Government has implemented a number of schemes for welfare of all sections of the society, especially farmers, Scheduled Castes and Backward Classes, traders, labourers, youth, students and women.

The Chief Minister questioned the audience if anyone could let him know whether the INLD Government had formulated any scheme for the welfare of farmers or did it reduce the rate of interest on crop loans or did they withdraw any black law. He also questioned whether the INLD Government gave free residential plots or water connection free of cost to the poor and whether scholarships were given to the children of the poor from class I.

The Chief Minister said that contrary to it, the present Government has given 9.83 lakh free connections of drinking water and 16.70 lakh children were getting scholarships. He pointed out that under Indira Gandhi Priyadarshini Vivah Shagun Yojana, 1.27 lakh girls have been benefitted with Rs 178 crore as €Kanyadaan'.

Pehowa being a religious place and the rally being addressed by Hooda during the days of €Navratri', he urged the people to cooperate with the Government in checking the menace of female foeticide. He also urged the people to keep girls in the same esteem as they keep Goddess.

Haryana Finance Minister, H.S. Chattha said that the rally has been organized on the directions of the workers of the party in the area to get Pehowa developed at an accelerated pace through Hooda and also ensure maximum employment opportunities for the youth. He said that unprecedented development has taken place in this area. He appreciated that Hooda was concerned about development of the State without any political vendetta.

Member of Parliament, Naveen Jindal said that the people of Haryana were lucky as UPA Chairperson, Mrs Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh had made the son of a freedom fighter as the Chief Minister of Haryana. He also urged the people to check female foeticide.

The Political Advisor to Chief Minister, Prof. Virender Singh, who conducted the rally, apprised the people about ongoing developmental activities in the State and the deeds of opposition leaders in his own style.

The Convener of the rally, Mr Mandeep Chattha thanked the people for coming in a large number to attend the rally.

Those present on the occasion included Chief Parliamentary Secretary, Sultan Singh, MLA Anil Dhantori, Media Advisor Sunderpal Singh, former Member of Parliament, Kailasho Saini and leaders of the Congress party and prominent personalities of the area.
