How to Make Wheat Paste for Decoupage
- 1). Add 1 cup of hot water to an old pan. Set the stove-top temperature to high heat.
- 2). Combine 3 tbsp. of wheat flour with cold water. Add enough cold water to make a thin paste, but do not make the paste entirely too thin or it will not be adhesive. Mix until the flour dissolves in the water and there are no lumps.
- 3). Pour the wheat flour mixture slowly into the hot water. Bring the hot water wheat mixture to a boil until it thickens. Continue to stir the mixture to prevent it from sticking or burning.
- 4). Allow the wheat paste to thicken before applying it to create decoupage. The paste will resemble the texture of glue.
- 5). Use an old paintbrush to add the wheat paste to the decoupage. Apply the wheat paste to the bottom of the decoupage pictures, being careful not to apply too much.
- 6). Store the wheat paste in an airtight container. Keep the container in a cool and dry environment.
