How to Center a Conveyor Belt

    • 1). Decide which way to adjust or center the belt. If the belt is moving to the left, then it should be adjusted towards the right until it is centered.

    • 2). Locate the tracking roller at one end of the belt. It may appear that there is more than one tracking roller, but one is to provide tension to the belt and the other is to center or track the belt. Loosen the lock nuts with an open ended wrench, which will move the pulley right or left.

    • 3). Move the tracking roller outward if the belt is moving to the right. Loosen the jack bolts on the roller with an open-end wrench to push the roller out. Adjust the tracking roller in if the belt is moving to the left. Tighten the jack bolts with a wrench which will bring the roller inward.

    • 4). Operate the conveyor while you are pushing down on the upper side of the belt with the bottom of your palm. Do this until the belt moves by itself. Move the belt and roller in the opposite direction until it is where it should be.
