    • 1). Put on gloves.

      Sprinkle baking soda over the surface. Let it sit for four to six hours.

    • 2). Dip a scrub brush into warm water.

      Scrub the baking soda onto the surface. Rinse it off with water. If you can't rinse the surface, wait for it to dry and vacuum up the dry baking soda.

    • 3). Douse the surface in white distilled vinegar if it still smells like a rat.

      Leave the vinegar to dry on the surface to absorb the odor.
