Will Taking a Bath with Dead Sea Salt Affect Genital Psoriasis?
- Dead Sea salt is a mineral harvested from the Dead Sea in Israel. Rapid evaporation from the Dead Sea means the minerals in the water are highly concentrated and rich in charged ions. European doctors frequently send patients to the Dead Sea for psoriasis treatment.
- Dead Sea salts ease the itching and pain associated with psoriasis. The minerals in the salt may slow the rapid cell division that characterizes psoriasis. So over time you may see improvement in your condition or even get immediate relief.
- Dissolve Dead Sea salts into a warm bath. You may sit in the bath for 20 to 30 minutes at a time and repeat this once or twice a day as long as necessary.
- The genitals are a very sensitive area and tend to respond well to treatment, so you don't need to be too aggressive. You may want to wash the area with medicated shampoo during your bath and apply a mild cortisone cream afterward.
- You may also have a fungal infection in your groin area, since they often accompany genital psoriasis. Dead Sea salts won't affect this, so talk to your doctor about an antifungal treatment.
