What Are the Symptoms of the Conflicker Virus?
- Based on the way the Conflicker virus is made, it only affects PCs. Mac computers running Mac Operating Systems are not subject to the virus.
- Several types of Conflicker have been released, including Conflicker.A, first reported on Nov. 21, 2008, and Conflicker.E, reported on April 8, 2009. One of the most dangerous, Conflicker.B, spreads through file sharing.
- If your auto updates, Windows defender or error reporting services are disabled, you could have Conflicker. Also, if the network seems congested and you cannot access some security sites, consider checking for Conflicker.
- Run Microsoft Update to get the latest security update; use Windows Live safety scanner if you cannot access Microsoft's website to update.
- To prevent Conflicker, install the latest security updates, use strong administrator passwords on all computers and disable extensive file sharing.
