Choosing Window Treatments For Bathroom Windows
If you want to put blinds on your bathroom windows, you need to steer clear of wood blinds. Wood blinds absorb moisture and will warp out of shape. Some metal blinds don't hold up well in damp conditions, either. A good choice of blinds for a bathroom is either the kind made of some type of plastic or faux wood. Both of these choices withstand moisture, look nice, clean easily, and will give you the privacy you want. Another great thing about plastic and faux wood blinds is that they are two of the more economical kinds of window treatments you can buy.
You might decide that you want bright curtains on your bathroom windows instead of blinds. If possible, get a swatch of the material you are thinking of using, and hold it up in front of the window. Are you able to see through the fabric when it's sunny outside? If you can then at night when you're in the room with the lights on, people on the outside are going to be able to see in right through those curtains, too. Of course, you can always have them lined, but the extra cost of lining them is something you need to consider before committing to buy.
Some bathroom windows are obscured from the public so that you won't need a window treatment that affords you more privacy. On these windows you will be free to use any type of curtain or valance that you want. Once again, though, you'll need to keep in mind the excess moisture your window treatment will be exposed to in order to buy something that will stay looking nice until you're ready to replace it.
