EXT Cancer Patient Bill of Rights – Volunteers Wanted

Ralph Waldo Emerson said, "It is one of the most beautiful compensations of this life that no man can sincerely try to help another without helping himself."

I believe we should give the word "cancer" another definition. A definition that entails the spreading of goodness through helping others. A contagious effect in knowing that our hands, our hearts, and our words give momentum and encouragement to someone who is physically, emotionally, and mentally suffering with a disease – a disease that knows no boundaries and sees no pain.

Cancer.ext.com is dedicated to furthering the rights of individuals plagued with cancerous diseases. We are gathering people online to support a 15-part petition that will redirect legislation to focus on and definitively address the needs of cancer patients and cancer research. Continuous and constant research is imperative. Funding is vital. Initiatives in research are essential. Patient care, family involvement, available medical assurances, treatment, and insurances are paramount.

Volunteers are always an integral part of and an enormous resource in our endeavours to provide the most relevant information; the newest and most decisive avenues of treatment; the best means of reaching out to and into communities to educate and enlighten people about the all-too-many types of cancer; and how best to work with, to comfort, and to help patients and their families cope, battle with and strive to overcome the afflictions inherent within cancer stricken families.

It is our government, our congress, which must listen to and take to heart the overwhelming need for a cancer patients’ bill of rights. It is our government, our congress that needs to write and pass legislation that will ensure those rights.

It is you, your community, your friends, who as volunteers quietly yet demandingly stand with us and aspire to have an abiding cancer patient bill of rights written, passed, and implemented. You as volunteers are the individuals who give of yourselves to others in need, and you are indispensable.

Join us at Cancer.ext.com - for as a volunteer, and in the words of Mahatma Gandhi, "the best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others."
