How to Reinstall Windows XP with a Reinstallation Disc
- 1). Start your computer and log in with an administrative user name and password.
- 2). Insert the Windows XP installation CD into the computer's disc drive. After the computer reads the CD, the "Welcome to Windows" box should appear.
- 3). Click on the "Install Windows XP" button.
- 4). Choose "Upgrade (Recommended)" as the installation type, then hit "Next."
- 5). Accept the license agreement and press "Next" again.
- 6). Type in the 25-character product key that appears on the Windows XP box.
- 7). Press the "Next" button twice. Since Windows XP is already installed on the computer, the wizard cannot upgrade the operating system and will reinstall it instead.
