How to Keep Sideburns Lined Up
- 1). Stand in front of a large mirror.
- 2). If you are doing this yourself, turn sideways or use an additional mirror to see this clearly.
- 3). Using an electric trimmer or a razor, trim the sideburn to approximately one inch below the top of the ear -- or to another length if a shorter or longer sideburn is preferred.
- 4). Repeat this procedure on the opposite side of the head.
- 5). Hold a finger against both sideburns and parallel to the cut line, with the bottom of the fingers even with the bottom of the sideburn. If you are doing this yourself, point your index fingers behind you and lay them against the sideburns.
- 6). Look in the mirror and compare the position of the fingers on both sides of the head. It should be clear if the fingers align. If they do not, move up the finger that is lower until it is level with the other finger. Note the amount of the bottom of the sideburn that is exposed. If you are doing this yourself, you should be able to feel the amount of too-long sideburn extending below your finger.
- 7). Re-cut the sideburn that is too long by the amount it extends below the lower finger during the comparison.
