It is believed that in the united states that one in six people suffer from anxiety in one form or another.
Anxiety disorders can have a devastating effect on those who suffer them.
These disorders can restrict a persons ability to function normally.
Panic attacks can affect the quality of a sufferers life, constantly holding the person back from what they enjoy doing.
The feeling of terror that comes with these attacks, plus an overwhelming fear of these attacks happening again make it pretty miserable for the individual concerned.
Panic attacks are actually a product of the mind, an imagination of a perceived threat or danger.
A typical attack would consist of one of the following, profuse sweating, hot flushes, breathlessness, tight chest.
The main symptom of a panic attack is extreme fear, it is the bodies way of protecting us from certain situations, both physically, and emotionally, but it is not normal to let our bodies be overtaken with fear to the point that physical symptoms begin to appear because of it.
Other emotions attached to panic attacks can be a feeling of great insecurity, impending doom, constant negative thoughts, a feeling of worthlessness.
Some people do not realize what is happening to them, and think they are going mad, will feel overwhelmed and agitated, will worry more and inflate the scenario in their own mind.
They will feel as though no treatment would help them, but these attacks are not life threatening, and can be controlled.
The first thing a sufferer should do is seek professional help through their doctor, then either through medication, relaxation techniques, or behavioral therapy, the sufferer will be able to get their life back.
