Christian Bale
He began his proper film career in Steven Spielberg's overlooked classic Empire of the Sun in 1987. This performance earned him widespread critical praise and the first ever "Best Performance by a Juvenile Actor" award from the National Board of Review of Motion Pictures. His major success came with the film American Psycho in 1999. He was initially dropped from the project in favour of Leonardo DiCaprio, who eventually dropped from the movie to star in the film Beach and Bale was gain casted for the film. The film was critically praised and his performance was also noticed by the critics. Later on he appeared in the film Captain Corelli's Mandolin in 2000.
Some of his popular and the most successful films came during early 2000s. These include Reign of Fire, Equilibrium, The Machinist, Howl's Moving Castle and Batman. To attain a deeper understanding of the character, Bale read various Batman comic books. He explained his interpretation of the young boy. The film went on to became a smash hit and he reprised his role of Batman in the sequel, The Dark Knight. The film went on to gross over $1 billion at the box office worldwide, making it the fourth-highest grossing movie worldwide ever at that time, before adjusting for inflation. He reprised the role again for the second sequel and final installment of the series,The Dark Knight Rises, which made him the longest-lasting actor to portray Batman on film to date.
Some of the other successful films of Christian Bale were Terminator Salvation in which he played the role of John Connor, Harsh Times, The New World, Rescue Dawn, The Prestige, I'm Not There, 3:10 to Yumo, The Fighter, Killing Pablo, The Flowers of War, Out of the Furnace and Exodus. He won many awards like Best Leading Actor for The Machinist by Catalonian International Film Festival, MTV Movie Award for Best Actor for Batman Begins, People's Choice Award for Favorite Super hero for The Datrk Knight and The Academy Award for The Best Supporting Actor for The Fighter.
