How to Get Stains Out of a Tan Couch
- 1). Blot stains that are still wet with a clean, dry towel or lint-free cloth to remove the excess moisture.
- 2). Rinse the stain with distilled water and blot the area with a clean towel or lint-free cloth if your tan fabric is non-protein based and identified with a "W" or "WS." Common fabrics of this type include acetate, nylon and polyester. If you have a stubborn stain, rub a small amount of water-soluble detergent into the area in a circular motion before rinsing and blotting with cool distilled water and a clean towel or lint-free cloth again.
- 3). Dab organic dye stains like mustard and fruit juice with a mixture that is 1 part white vinegar and 3 parts distilled water. Blot the stain with a clean towel or lint-free cloth.
- 4). Mix 2 tbsp. table salt with 1 quart of distilled water to remove bloodstains from tan fabric. Blot the stain and rinse with distilled water. If the stain persists, apply a 3:1 mixture of distilled water and hydrogen peroxide.
- 5). Combine equal parts hydrogen peroxide and water-soluble detergent and rub the mixture onto the stain in gentle circular motions to remove red wine. Rinse with distilled water.
