- 1). Insert the Windows XP installation disk into the computer's CD drive.
- 2). Restart the computer. Press any key as prompted to boot from the CD.
- 3). Press "R" to open the recovery console.
- 4). Type "/fixboot" and press "Enter" to fix the boot information on your hard disk.
