Sports enthusiast and professional trainers are looking for training methods on how to help athletes jump further and higher.
But even with the advanced technology only few techniques have been found to be very effective in achieving such goal.
Plyometrics workout has been used by professional athletes, coaches, and trainers to help athlete build stronger legs and achieve high jumps.
Plyometrics exercises may look and sound easy, but for people who have less knowledge in this exercise could mostly end up frustrated and can gain weight.
This exercise is used by volleyball, basketball, football, high jump and log jump players and any sport that involves jumping.
This help increase vertical jumps by toning your leg muscles as well as your upper body and avoid injuries during the game or training.
For you to jump higher there are two things that need to be considered.
One is to develop more leg strength and two increase your speed and agility of your legs.
The Strength training needs to be practiced way before starting the plyometric exercises because the plyo exercise includes a lot of pressure it is advised that one should take strength training putting your legs and joint in to good working condition before engaging into plyo exercise.
The plyo exercise trains your tendon reflexes in your knees.
Jumping into your centre of gravity with quick moves and bending your knees before jumping.
The style of this jump stretched the tendons on your knees with will result to automatic response that will help you jump higher.
Once the tendons have been stretched, this signals the spinal cord and be aware of the reaction once you jump.
The spinal cord also signals the knee to strengthen while it's bent.
Since the signal travels through the spinal cord, its reaction is much faster.
The plyo exercises are designed to make fast reactions making more power in your leg muscles thus makes your jump higher.
You may not be able to train your body's reaction, but you can always train your leg muscles and fibres in your leg to react faster and quicker.
With more muscles being used the more you jump higher.
With the plyometrics workouts, it is very important that you stay alert and focus on the exercise.
It does not only help you jump higher and quick footwork, but will prepare you for the big game.
And most of all, it is important that you have patience, hard work, determination and goal to succeed in being an athlete.
