Holly Hobbie & Friends: Fabulous Fashion Show - Guide Review

The Holly Hobbie series of DVDs claims to set itself apart by providing "wholesome" entertainment for young girls. Fabulous Fashion Show continues to uphold the values that the series has long embraced. While fashion is a passion of Holly and her friends, it takes a back seat to friendship and is even a conduit for charitable actions in the stories contained in the DVD.

Holly Hobby is an impressive character these days, because she is fashionable, but her clothing is very age appropriate.

She does not wear any noticeable makeup, and her hair is stylish, but not overly trendy. In addition, Holly and her friends often focus on charity and giving to the community. The series is a great choice for parents who are looking for wholesome entertainment for their children, because it goes above and beyond the general moral lessons found in many other shows for young girls - Holly and her friends set very strong examples of how to be good friends and good citizens. The show emphasizes friendship, family, and community through stories about a fun and caring 10-year-old girl.

The episode "Inside Out" does contain some uncharacteristic scenes with Portia being very rude to Amy and Carrie. She insults them and hurts their feelings, but this is because her busy parents have hurt her by their lack of attention. Once a patient and understanding Holly gets to the bottom of Portia's behavior, the girls all forgive each other, and Holly is even able to help Portia's parents become part of the happy ending.
