    • 1). Measure the dimension of the open space for your tub. The space is usually surrounded by three walls. For example, 8-by-4-by-4 feet.

    • 2). Cut an 8-by-4 plywood sheet using a table saw. The sheet covers the exposed wall. Fill the edges of the plywood sheet that touch the sides of the walls and floor with silicone caulk.

    • 3). Buy a PVC pipe the same circumference as your drain. Cut the PVC pipe to 14 inches long using a table saw. Place the PVC pipe over the drain; it prevents concrete spilling into your drain. Use the pipe as the new drain input.

    • 4). Mix concrete and pour a 1-foot layer in the bottom of the open space. The concrete is the base of your bathtub. Let the concrete dry for one day.

    • 5). Cut two 6-by-3 and two 2-by-3 plywood sheets. Arrange the pieces into a rectangular structure. Nail the ends of the sheets together. Caulk the corners.

    • 6). Remove the PVC pipe from the base of the tub. Place the rectangular structure over the concrete base. Place it in the middle of the four walls. The structure is the inside molding of the bathtub. The rectangular structure has a 1-foot open border around each side.

    • 7). Pour concrete in between the walls and the outside of the rectangular structure. Let the concrete dry for one day. Remove all plywood sheets. Wrap the concrete in polyurethane and dry the concrete for an additional five days. Moisture is needed to cure concrete. The polyurethane wrap traps the moisture inside the concrete.

    • 8). Remove the polyurethane wrap. Let the concrete dry for one more day. Sand the interior of the concrete tub with rough sandpaper. The inside of the concrete tub should be smooth. Rinse out the tub with water. Your concrete tub is now ready to use.
