What Versions of Windows Will Office 2007 Work On?
- Microsoft released a new version of its Office software suite in 2007 with a completely redesigned interface meant to match the look and feel of Windows Vista. While the interface of Office 2007 is distinctly similar to that of Windows Vista, it is not the only operating system that Office 2007 can run with. If you have a relatively recent computer, it is likely that you have a version of Windows that works with Office 2007.
- Microsoft released Windows XP in 2001, and it continues to be one of the most popular operating systems in 2010. To install Office 2007 on a computer running Windows XP, the computer must have at least Service Pack 2 for Windows XP installed. Windows XP service packs are free for legal owners of the operating system.
- Windows Vista was the operating system released with Microsoft Office 2007. Windows Vista earned fame for including a completely new visual style, called "Aero." The Aero visual style in Windows Vista includes 3D-enhanced effects, such as shadows and translucent windows. Microsoft also carried Aero over to Windows 7.
- Microsoft released Windows 7 in 2009. The operating system featured several refinements compared to Windows Vista, including a redesigned taskbar with larger icons and the ability to "pin" any program or document to the taskbar.
- The server is the central computer on a large network that might be found at a school or business. Servers provide services, such as email or access to a multiple-user database, to client computers. If you have a server computer running Windows Server 2003 or later, it can run Microsoft Office 2007.
- Mainstream support for Office 2007 ends on April 10, 2012. Any versions of Windows released until the end of the mainstream support period -- and possibly some future versions as well -- are likely to support Office 2007.
