How to Ride Powder on a Snowboard
- 1). Find an open, unobstructed slope for learning to snowboard powder. Early in the morning after a fresh snowfall is the best time.
- 2
Point your nose straight down the slope and get going with some speed. Don't worry so much about your edges in the powder yet. Unlike ice, powder allows you to snowboard straight without much difficulty. - 3). Keep your weight slightly toward the tail.
- 4
Bounce up gently and float high on the powder. This also helps keep your speed up. - 5
Retain your speed and begin carving small turns. This should take little effort in good powder. - 6
Bounce up at the beginning of each turn to free your board from the powder and keep you riding high. - 7
Establish a rhythm of rising up on the powder and steering. Rise and steer, rise and steer, until you are carving smoothly back and forth. - 8). Know nirvana.
