Maghrebi Treaty of Fraternity and Concord

106 36
One of two Unity Treaties (the other being the Oudja Accord) in North Africa in the mid 1980s, the Maghrebi Treaty of Fraternity and Concord was the creation of Algeria, and tied them initially to Tunisia in 1983, and then to Mauritania in 1984. The unity treaties came about during a period of disputed borders and political interference in neighboring countries in north Africa, specifically with the recognition of Mauritania as an independent state, the borders of Algeria with Niger and Mali, the disputes of the Aozou Strip between Libya and Chad, and the annexing of Western Sahara by Morocco.
