    • 1). Open the Excel workbook and navigate to the sheet you want to change. Highlight the specific cells that you need to modify.

    • 2). Keep the cells highlighted and navigate to the "Home" tab. Click the "Format" button at the far right side of the Home toolbar. Scroll down and click "Row Height."

    • 3). Type in a smaller value than the value currently listed to shorten the vertical cell padding. The specific value you need to enter to completely remove the vertical cell padding will vary depending on the font size in the cell, but it is usually two numbers lower than the standard height.

    • 4). Repeat the process with any additional cells in the workbook's other sheets.
