How to Insert Church Stained Glass Behind Existing Windows
- 1). Measure the church window to determine the size framing material required to fit the stained glass window against the existing window.
- 2). Determine the type of material required to frame the stained glass window. If the existing frame is either wood or aluminum you may want to use the same material.
- 3). Order the framing material to fit the measurements.
- 4). Screw or hammer the new frame into the existing frame. A wood frame likely includes a spacer trim that is 1/2 to 3/4 inches wide, and an outer frame to secure the stained glass in place against the spacer trim. An aluminum frame fits against the existing frame with a snap-in aluminum piece to hold the stained glass in place.
- 5). Clean both the existing window and the stained glass thoroughly and allow both to dry fully.
- 6). Fit the stained glass into place against the new aluminum frame or wooden spacer, and secure it in place with the wooden frame or snap-in aluminum piece.
