It is quite easy to fix water damage; it comes down to one or two things.
Call a plumber or do-it-yourself.
If it's the latter, ascertain where the water spoil originated and what the cause was.
One guiding principle is to remember that water will go around things, which is a pretty good way to find out where it came from.
Another is listening to see if you can hear running water.
It's important to know if the leak is going on as you're investigating it.
And, now, for the fix; apply roof tar, then Kilz brand paint to any area of discoloration in the ceiling.
In the case of a small amount of basement sheet rock water damage, the thing to do is cut out and remove the wet part.
Then, cut the proper amount out of new sheet rock to fit, tape and mud the seams, then paint.
As for repair of any water spoil of upholstered furniture, a good rule of thumb is to air it out, putting it in the sun and wind to dry and to avoid mold and odor problems, as well.
It's also good to call a water restoration specialist to fix water damage.
Murphy's Oil Soap is a good solution if the damage is confined to the feet of the furniture.
To fix water damage, just put a little on a clean cloth and rub it slowly, as you go, into the wood grain.
It would be a good idea to call home insurance if the furniture is valuable enough to keep and repair, rather than replace.
So, that's about it for some tips on how to repair water spoil.
It's fairly easy if you're handy and you have the materials on hand.
And, it's pretty much all logic and common sense anyway.
And, it's definitely less expensive.
