Using a marker will take the guess work out of measurements.marker image by dmitry_kim from Fotolia.com
Locate where the collar seam meets the top of the right shoulder and measure about 2 inches towards the middle of the collar seam. Mark this measurement with your marker. - 3). Repeat Step 2 on the left shoulder. Make sure your markings are symmetrical by folding the shirt lengthwise to see if the markings touch.

Cut under the seam of the collar on both sides from the tops of the shoulders to where you made your marks. - 5). Cut from under the right armpit seam in a straight line up to the cut on the collar, removing the entire right sleeve and shoulder of the shirt.
- 6). Repeat with the left armpit seam, making sure the cut is symmetrical with the right side.

Use your favorite color of thread to put a final touch on the halter.thread image by studio vision1 from Fotolia.com
Cut about 3 feet of thread and pass one end through the eye of a needle. Do so until the needle meets the middle of the thread. Triple-knot the ends together. - 2). Sew the edges of each armhole (without closing the new armholes) in a circular pattern to create a mock seam. Insert your needle from the inside of the armhole to the outside and back around to the inside and repeat. Each time, your needle should enter the fabric from the inside of the shirt.
- 3). Knot the end of the thread when each armhole is completed. Make sure the knot is secure and will not come undone.
