Crafts are a great way to spend time with your children and engage their minds and creativity. Wreath crafts are a good craft to make for any holiday occasion, and the finished products can be used to decorate your home inside or out. Christmas, Easter and Thanksgiving are all holidays that you can help your child create a wreath for. There are a variety of wreath crafts you can make using basic craft supplies.

    Christmas Bow Wreath

    • A Christmas bow wreath is extremely easy to make and can be completed by children pre-school age and up. To create a Christmas bow wreath, you will need a wide wire wreath frame, red gift bows and green gift bows. Choose gift bows that have an adhesive strip on the bottom. Lay the wreath frame down on a flat surface and stick the bottom of the bows onto the frame. Alternate the colors in a red-green-red pattern until the entire wreath frame is covered.

    Thanksgiving Handprint Wreath

    • A Thanksgiving handprint wreath is another easy wreath craft that is appropriate for children pre-school age and up.To make a Thanksgiving handprint wreath you will need orange construction paper, red construction paper, scissors, glue and a foot long piece of red ribbon. Help your child trace their handprint five times on the red paper and five times on the orange paper. Carefully cut out each of the handprints and arrange them in a circle. The handprints should be set out in a red-orange-red patter. Place a dot of glue on the bottom corner of one handprint, and overlap the next. Continue gluing the handprints together until they form the wreath. Tie the ribbon into a bow and glue it onto the bottom of the wreath.

    Decoupage Easter Egg Wreath

    • A decoupage Easter Egg wreath is a slightly difficult craft that is best for older children. Before beginning this craft, you will need to blow 12 eggs so that they are hollow. To blow an egg, insert a sewing needle through the large part of the egg. Next, insert the sewing needle through the small part of the egg and twist it around to create a slightly large hole. Press your lips against the large part of the egg and blow so that all of the contents slide out of the egg.

When starting the craft with children, you will need Easter paper cutouts, a foam brush, Mod Podge and a single wire wreath frame. Have you child apply a small coat of Mod Podge to the back of an Easter paper cutout and adhere it onto an egg. Paint a thin coat of Mod Podge over the top of the Easter Paper cutout. Continue this process until all of the eggs have been decoupaged. Loop the eggs onto the wreath frame through the holes you created when you blew the eggs.
