Window Blinds Cleaning and Repair
- 1). Pop open the front of the mounting bracket that holds your blinds in place. Slide the blinds straight out and rest the blinds on the floor.
- 2). Remove the end caps from the bottom metal rail. Untie the string that holds the blinds together.
- 3). Slide each slat off of the strings and lay them on a sheet or towel. Clean both sides of each slat. Clean vinyl and metal blinds with soap and water. For wood blinds use a wood furniture polish. Vacuum fabric blinds with a hose vacuum attachment.
- 4). Replace any broken slats. You can find replacement slats at a home improvement store or order new slats from the manufacturer.
- 5). Replace any broken string by sliding the end caps from the top metal rail. Untie and remove broken strings from the top rail. Slide a new string in its place.
- 6). Thread all of the slats back through the string. Slide the bottom rail onto the string. Tie a knot in the bottom of each string to secure the strings and the bottom rail.
- 7). Hang up your freshly cleaned blinds.
