April Kepner, played by Sarah Drew, is a resident that joined our residents during the Mercy West merge. At first Lexie was really annoyed by April because April kept a journal and wrote in it all the time, but they soon became friends.
April was fired after a woman died, but Derek hired her back when he became chief. Her best friend was Reed, who came over during the merge as well. Reed was killed during a shootout in the hospital.
April has had a crush on Derek since the beginning and as Derek was talking the shooter down, April came running out and Derek was shot.
