How to Make a Mala Prayer Bracelet
- 1). Cut a 3-inch length of bendable metal wire and bend it in half. Bend the last ¼ inch into a slight hook.
- 2). Thread the elastic string through the loop created in the bent metal wire. Push the guru tower, which is a cylindrical anchor bead, over the hook at the end of the metal wire. Push the hook through one of the holes in the guru bead, which is the largest bead on the bracelet and the one that corresponds to your first chant.
- 3). Push the tower and guru bead down the metal wire and over the string. Remove the metal wire from the string and pull one end of the string out through the tower and guru bead.
- 4). String the rest of your beads onto the end of the elastic string so they sit flush against each other. Continue until all the beads are on the string.
- 5). Thread the end of the elastic string through the loop on the bottom of the bent wire again. Push the hooked end of the wire up through the second hole in the guru bead, then through the tower. Pull the wire and string through the hole, then remove the wire.
- 6). Tie a knot in the two ends of the string at the base of the tower. This can be simple or a decorative knot.
