    Orchids

    • Found all throughout the world in a number of climates, the orchid family of flowers is thought to be the largest group of known plants. With over 20,000 species of flowers, orchids are perennial herbs and lack the woody stem that other flowers commonly feature. Because there are so many different types of orchids, drawing a picture of one of these plants can add a colorful aura to any room or area.

    Roses

    • While most species of roses are native to the continent of Asia, there are some that are found throughout Europe, North America and Africa. Roses come in a variety of colors and strands, but a red rose is often used to symbolize love or a relationship. These types of flowers may come in a wide range of shapes and sizes, but they are most notable for their overlapping layers of petals.

    Daisies

    • The Asteraceae family of plants is the scientific name for the flowers more commonly known as daisies. Because these types of plants can be found throughout the world, they can easily blend into any type of drawing. The circular centerpiece of these flowers is complimented nicely by a set of oar-shaped petals, giving these plants a unique shape when compared to any other flower. Daisies tend to be found in yellow, white, pink and purple hues.

    Azaleas

    • Unlike many other types of flowers and plants, azaleas tend to favor shaded areas underneath taller trees. These brightly-colored, summertime flowers are cultivated and grown under human supervision, and have been for the last hundred years. Often smaller than other types of flowers and plants, azaleas work nicely in drawings and paintings that feature well-groomed landscapes. These flowers tend to be featured in shades of red and white.

    Lilies

    • Found most often in the northern hemisphere, lilies are flowers that form from a bulb. These types of plants come in a wide variety of colors and sizes, but they are most notable for their long, leafy structures and drooping appearance. With unique and often memorizing patterns of growth, these types of flowers work well in drawings and paintings of tropical locations or other warm climates.
