How to Remove a Dried Latex Paint Stain From Carpet

    Using Rubbing Alcohol

    • 1). Gently scrap the stain with a spoon, starting at the edge of the stain and working toward the middle.

    • 2). Vacuum the excess, or blot it with a clean, dry, white towel.

    • 3). Apply rubbing alcohol to a clean white towel, and blot the carpet.

    • 4). Apply warm water to rinse the carpet, taking care not to soak the carpet.

    • 5). Blot any excess water from the carpet.

    • 6). Vacuum the carpet once it is dry to reset the carpet pile.

    Using Detergent Solution

    • 1). Mix 2 cups of warm water with 1 teaspoon of clear liquid dish detergent.

    • 2). Apply the detergent solution to the area, and let it stand for five minutes. Do not soak the carpet.

    • 3). Rinse the carpet with warm water, taking care not to soak the carpet.

    • 4). Blot any excess water.

    • 5). Vacuum the area once the carpet dries to reset the pile.

    Using Hydrogen Peroxide

    • 1). Apply a mixture of 1 tbsp. of hydrogen peroxide with 3 tbsp. of warm water.

    • 2). Cover the stain with a thick towel to block light from hitting the spot. Light can cause the hydrogen peroxide to bleach color out of the carpet.

    • 3). Rinse the carpet by applying warm water. Do not soak the carpet.

    • 4). Blot excess water from the spot with a clean towel.

    • 5). Vacuum the carpet once the stain is gone and the carpet is dry to set the pile.
