    Plant Parts

    • To learn the various parts of the flower, the children can construct the flower with given labels. Cut out for the students the roots, stem, leaves and petals of the flower from construction paper. Also, cut out labels for the children. Give each child a piece of paper along with all of the flower part cutouts and labels. Have them glue the flower parts where they go along with the labels. This activity will incorporate science into the students' activity.

    Adding and Counting Petals

    • To create an activity incorporating math, provide the students with pictures of flowers with different numbers of petals. The pictures can also involve simple addition by having two different flowers and adding the number of petals on each together. To make this activity more fun, the students can color all of the flowers with two petals the same color, three petals the same color, and so on.

    Types of Flowers

    • To work on handwriting, the students can be given various pictures of well-known flowers such as sunflowers, roses and tulips. You can tell the students what flowers are if necessary. Then have the students write on lined paper "This is a _______" and write the type of flower.

    Bouquet of Lilies

    • A fun activity to do with kindergartners, and also a fun one to take home to mom or dad, is a bouquet of hand-print lilies. To create the flowers, have the students trace their hands on different colors of construction paper and then cut the hands out with safety scissors. Have the children draw pairs of leaves and also cut them out. Form a cone with each hand and staple them to a straw, and staple the leaves to the straw. Do not let the children staple. Combine all of the different-colored lilies to make a bouquet.
