- 1). Unplug your Maytag refrigerator from the wall. This will prevent coolant from circulating through the coils while you are working on them and make them easier to clean.
- 2). Determine if your coils are located on the bottom or the rear of your Maytag. In most newer models, the coils will be located at the bottom. If there is a grill on the bottom front of your refrigerator, your Maytag's coils are located on the bottom. Otherwise they will be located on the rear. If you have bottom coils, go to Step 3. For back coils, go to Step 4.
- 3). Remove the grill from the bottom of the Maytag. This is usually done by loosening the bolts or screws that hold the grill in place at each end. Gently pry the grill out of place with a screwdriver after the screws are removed. Go to Step 5.
- 4). Move the refrigerator out and away from the wall. Make sure you have enough space to maneuver around the Maytag. Remove the back cover, if present, to expose the coils. Go to Step 5.
- 5). Vacuum off the coils. Use the corner attachment, if your vacuum has one, to reach into all the nooks and crannies on the coils. Be gentle with the hose, as pressure can damage the coils. Go over each coil with a sweeping motion.
- 6). Take the bottle brush and go over the coils in any places that the vacuum might have missed.
- 7). Replace the cover or grill. Move the refrigerator back into its original location. Plug it back into the outlet.
