Using Jealousy to Win Your Ex Back

One of the most popular techniques that disgruntled lovers use to get their ex's attention is jealousy. They think that by showing off their new boyfriend or girlfriend they will somehow make their ex overlook the things that doomed their old relationship. In the end this strategy takes a lot of work since you are effectively trying to manage two relationships at the same time. But does it actually work? Here are some things to consider before parading around with your new bargaining chip.

How Did Things End?

Before you use aggressive techniques like jealousy to capture your ex lover's attention you should consider how your relationship fizzled out. Did your ex leave you because they found someone else? If so it might be a good idea to show them that you are still a prize catch for someone else. However, if they broke up with you because of other factors like time spent together or constant fighting then you may want to think twice. These types of issues can be better solved with good communication. You don't want to deepen the wounds by trying to show off.

What is Your Ex Doing?

Reflecting on your ex's dating situation is key before making your first move. If they are with someone else then you might need to surprise them with your own dating achievements in order to grab their attention. On the other hand, if they are still single you can send the wrong message by being seen with a new companion. Jealousy doesn't work when it turns your ex off. If you don't see them flaunting anyone new then there is no reason to play this card yourself. Sometimes just showing up at the same party looking your best is all it takes to help them realize they made a mistake.

Are You Prepared for the Worst?

Big risk can lead to big rewards, but it can also result in huge losses. You have to prepare yourself for the fact that your ex might shrug off your latest love interest. How would you respond if you showed up with your new girl or guy only to have them ignore you? Could you handle it? Once you start to play the jealousy game it isn't always easy to get out of the situation you put yourself in. You might even trick your ex into thinking you have moved on for good and this could ruin any chance of a reunion. Just remember that you will have to face the music if things don't go according to planned.

Even though it can be an attractive thought to flaunt a new lover in front of your ex, the fact is that this plan rarely gets the intended results. Think about what you expect of your ex when you show up with a new partner on your side. Do you expect them to come running over to you and beg for another chance? Not only is this scenario unlikely, but more often than not you will be the one who leaves feeling jealous at the end of the night.
