With around 244,000 hectares, Davao City is technically one of the world's largest cities in terms of land area. So if you're planning to visit this lovely and peaceful city, and you have your itinerary ready, but don't know where to stay yet, here's a peek at a few of the nicest yet most affordable hotels and inns in the city.

1. Lasa Casitas De Angela II

Located in Loyola Street, Barrio Obrero and a mere 10 minute ride from the downtown area, Las Casitas De Angela II is a nice and affordable place to stay in Davao. The air-conditioned rooms are clean and spacious with each having an LCD TV (I didn't expect one though because I thought it was a budget hotel or inn). The inn is near a large mall, and there are a lot of fast food outlets and restaurants nearby too. Now, that's what you call "accessible!"

2. The Bagobo House Hotel

Located smack in the heart of the city, the Bagobo House Hotel has nice and spacious hotel rooms. It has staffs who are cheerful, accommodating, friendly, and courteous. Plus, they offer free breakfast too! The establishment is also near from malls and some elegant and affordable restaurants. Lastly, it's just a few minute walk from the Davao Doctor's Hospital (at least you have some clues on how to find it).

3. The Ponce Suites Gallery Hotel

If you want to experience an extraordinary accommodation and visit one of the top tourist spots in Davao too, then stay in the Ponce Suites Gallery Hotel. Even though the rates are very much affordable, you'll surely be surprised of their delicious meals and one a kind rooms! Don't forget the staffs as well. They are all helpful and approachable.

What's so nice about the hotel is that it doubles as an art gallery too. From the moment you drop at the entrance, until you enter the lobby and walk to your room, your eyes will enjoy a buffet feast of splendid art work, as oil canvass paintings, still-life murals breathtaking sculptures, and more line up the walls and hallways of this very unique hotel. It's because the establishment is owned by the family of one of Davao's most popular artists, Kublai Millan.

Kublai's sculptures and other intriguing works of art can also be found at the entrance of the Davao International Airport, at the People's Park, along the highway that connects Davao City to the province of Bukidnon, and in other parts of the Philippines. Enjoy your stay here, and get a quick lesson in arts and culture too. Sweet!

4. North Zen Basic Spaces

Located at the heart of the city, this inn is just a five- minute walk from Abreeza mall, and a 20-minute ride from the Davao International Airport. North Zen Basic Spaces' goal is to give its customers a pricey yet memorable accommodation. The rooms are clean, functional and spacious with huge cabinets and soft comfy beds. The interiors are spectacular as well. Although the hotel doesn't have an elevator, you don't have to worry since the inn isn't that huge (like some affordable hotels in the city). Just be ready to carry your luggage, or ask for help from the staff. The price however, makes it one of the most affordable hotels in Davao City.
