Now that Squidoo has over 200,000 lenses (that's what they call web pages - each member has at least one lens), there is a growing number of people interested to know how to have their lens listed further up the lensrank charts.
But the good folks over there at Squidoo.
com do not publish their ranking algorithm any more than Google publishes theirs.
So we have to guess.
Well, it can be an informed guess if you visit their forum at squidu.
com and poke around for a while.
However one of the obvious factors in the ranking algorithm is: HOW RECENTLY WAS IT UPDATED? So I decided to check on the top lens in each category.

So daily updates are not needed if you have ticks in lots of the other boxes.
Hmmm, what are those other boxes again? Says Gil, a Squidoo employee, "if a lens is visited, rated, favorited, emailed, and is generating revenue all at once, it will naturally achieve a higher lensrank no matter what.
" Megan, another staffer, says "we're constantly trying to come up with combos that reward a) good handbuilt content that is b) promoted well and c) recommended by readers.
