How to Make Orange Oil From Orange Peels
- 1). Put on gloves, since extracting orange oil may irritate your skin.
- 2). Peel the oranges. The more rinds you use, the more potent your oil will be. Grind the peels into tiny, coarse pieces using a grater or blender.
- 3). Spoon the orange grounds into a glass jar. Fill the jar with vodka until the liquid is 1/2 inch above the tops of the orange rinds.
- 4). Screw the lid onto the jar and shake it vigorously for a few minutes. Continue to shake the jar at least three times a day, for a few days.
- 5). Place the jar in a sunny location, since warmer alcohol will create more oil.
- 6). Strain the mixture through a plain coffee filter. Collect the drained liquid in a shallow dish. Remove any small grounds or pieces that managed to pass through the filter.
- 7). Cover the dish with cheesecloth. Leave the dish out at room temperature and wait a few days for the alcohol to evaporate. The remaining liquid will be orange oil.
