Features on a Nortel Phone
- Nortel makes a line of IP phones designed to make and receive calls over the Internet rather than through traditional phone lines or cellular networks. Nortel phones -- designed for use by businesses rather than individuals -- include numerous built-in features that make them useful in the workplace.
- Built-in speakerphones allow users to conduct conversations with colleagues or participate in conference calls without having to physically hold onto the phone. The hands-free aspect of Nortel phone allows the user to continue working or take notes more easily.
- Nortel phones include a number of built-in ring tones from which to select. If you work in a loud office you might, for instance, want to select a loud ring tone, while a less obtrusive ring tone would be preferable to a user who had a personal office.
- Nortel phones offer support for multiple phone lines, allow you to be on a call with someone and receive a call from another caller at the same time. Calls also can be put on hold using the phones, allowing you to switch between two different callers when needed.
- Some Nortel phones offer the ability to program specific numbers to speed dial. Once programmed into the phone you will be able to dial a contact by simple pressing the button beside his or her name, rather than having to physically type in their entire phone number.
- Nortel phones can be networked together, allowing a secretary to receive calls for an entire office and then forward those calls to the appropriate parties.
