Maintenance of the Whirlpool Air Conditioner Model ACQ102XP0
- The air filter helps traps airborne dust, lint and particles and prevents them entering the air conditioner. Try to make a habit of checking and cleaning the filter every two weeks, if necessary. Switch off the air conditioner and slide the filter out from behind the front grille by the tabs. Vacuum out the worst of the dust and wash in a sink of soapy water if the soiling is particularly bad. Thoroughly dry the filter before sliding it back in place.
- The plastic grille in front of the air filter also traps its fair share of dust and dirt over time. Unplug the air conditioner, remove the filter as outlined above and wipe the grille clean with a soft, clean cloth. Clean the filter, if necessary, and return it to its normal position. Allow the front grille to dry before reconnecting the power and turning on the air conditioner.
- The painted metal exterior of the air conditioner may be prone to rust in locations near the ocean or paint chips due to normal wear and tear. Touch up any paint damage with enamel paint as necessary, allowing enough time for the paint to dry before using the appliance. Consider purchasing a protective cover for the winter time to minimize rust.
- Whirlpool recommends having the air conditioner examined by an authorized technician at least once a year to replace worn parts before they fail. Annual inspections are not covered by warranty and are the responsibility of the owner. Call your local dealer to schedule an inspection.
