    • 1). Unplug the Kenmore dryer from its power outlet. Shut off the supply of gas before attempting to repair a Kenmore gas dryer. Make sure that all electricity and gas has been disconnected before beginning the repair process.

    • 2). Access the thermal fuse in your Kenmore clothes dryer. Depending on your dryer model, the thermal fuse may be located behind the bottom toe or rear dryer panel. Free the toe panel by applying moderate pressure to the clips that hold it in place with a putty knife or flathead screwdriver. Remove the four corner screws on the back of the dryer to free the rear panel.

    • 3). Locate the thermal fuse in your Kenmore clothes dryer. Look for a small white plastic component with two white wires attached to it; this is the thermal fuse.

    • 4). Detach the wires from the thermal fuse by gently pulling on them. Use a Phillips screwdriver to remove the screw in the center of the thermal fuse to free the component. Reserve the removed screw.

    • 5). Position the replacement thermal fuse, insert the previously removed screw and tighten it with the Phillips screwdriver. Re-attach the previously removed wires; clip the connectors at the ends of the wires to each end of the replacement thermal fuse. Replaced the removed bottom toe or rear dryer panel.
