      The Golden State has dozens of accredited online schools that provide vocational or university degrees. Most classes don't require campus visits and can be customized to meet any schedule, especially for busy professionals on the go. Some schools have test requirements for admission. Make sure the school you attend is accredited by one of six agencies recognized by the U.S. Education Department like the Higher Learning Commission or the North Central Association. Financial aid is available for students who qualify. Often, students will be expected to provide their own computers for attendance, but many public libraries and Internet cafes have computers available for use, sometimes for free.

    • Students can earn a bachelor's degree, master's degree or a Ph.D. with programs in management, education, psychology and health care and human services. The school specializes in B.S. degrees in accounting, business administration and pre-school and early childhood development. The school was founded in 1970 and offers a number of resources for technical training, online research and writing support for essays. Students can set their own class schedule, and utilize on-the-go classroom MobileLearn. This powerful application allows students to watch class videos online and observe real life simulations. Article archives and mp3 downloads for lectures and guest speakers are also available, and many of the resources can be accessed via smart phone or mp3 player.

    Westwood College

    • Westwood offers both online courses, and 17 campuses throughout California and five other states with classes day and night to work with a busy schedule. Westwood is certified by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges of Technology and the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools. The school offers several hands-on learning opportunities with local employers to give students learning experiences. The school offers simplified student financing and job placement assistance after graduation. The school offers 25 degrees for associate, bachelor's and master's degrees. Most programs can be completed in 20 months.

    • The California State University system, one of the largest public school systems in the country, offers a number of online educational opportunities. Many of the classes and courses do not require campus attendance, and CSU offers 76 different online educational degrees for traditional liberal arts education, science, business and career-specialty courses. Some courses have prerequisites and admission requirements. Most students have access to resources and library services at one of CSU's 20 campuses throughout California.
