How to Cure Damp Walls
- 1). Cover pots when boiling water. This will lower water vapor in your home.
- 2). Turn on the ventilation far and shut the bathroom door after a bath or shower. Leave the door shut until the water vapor and steam dissipates. This should take about 20 minutes.
- 3). Avoid hanging wet clothes to dry inside your home. This will reduce the water vapor in your home.
- 4). Vent your dryer outside.
- 5). Fix your home's ventilation system or install ceiling fans throughout the home and exhaust fans in the bathroom.
- 6). Heat your home above 63 degrees Fahrenheit. If the temperature is lower than that, it will turn the water vapor to condensation when it hits a cold wall.
- 7). Install a dehumidifier in your home if the water vapor and damp walls are still present.
- 8). Install double- or triple-paned windows in your home to keep the home warmer.
