The star of several Hollywood blockbusters, Natalie Portman, has now officially tied the knot to her ballet dancer fiancee and father of her child, in a ceremony in Big Sur, California.

The 31-year-old actress from "Black Swan" joined in the trend of destination weddings and married her partner Benjamin Millepied last weekend in a traditional Jewish wedding at her favourite getaway.

Portman wore a simple white dress to the moonlit wedding which took place under a traditional chuppah, a white Jewish canopy, at a private residence where vegan food was served to honour her animal-cruelty-free lifestyle.

The destination wedding was attended by celebrity guests including Ivanka Trump and Macaulay Culkin and family friends including their young son, Aleph.

The couple met on the set of "Black Swan" where Millepied played a ballet dancer and they announced their engagement and their pregnancy in December, 2010.

Big Sur is a popular spot for dreamy destination weddings due to its beautiful natural landscapes that include beaches, mountains, rocky coastline, lush green hills and winding rivers.

A source commented: "It's one of Natalie's favourite places, whenever she needs a break from LA she goes there."

More celebrities are choosing to get married away from home these days and exotic weddings abroad are becoming increasingly popular.

In 2011, Tara Reid married Zack Kehayov, at a cliff-side ceremony on the beautiful island of Santorini in Greece, and Nick Lachey and Vanessa Minnillo tied the knot on Necker Island, a private Caribbean island that is owned by multi-millionaire, Richard Branson.
This year, even more Hollywood stars are planning on getting married abroad including Jessica Simpson who is organising a wedding abroad on the island of Kauai in Hawaii on 12/12/12; Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux who are allegedly planning nuptials on the Greek island of Crete; and Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie who are rumoured to be tying the knot this weekend at their Chateau Miravel property in in Correns, France.

Popular wedding destinations for couples from all over the world include the Caribbean, Hawaii, Greece, Italy, Cyprus and Florida.
According to Mintel Research, one in five couples in the United Kingdom are now choosing a destination wedding over traditional nuptials at home.
