How to Thread a Curtain Traverse Rod

104 15
    • 1). Remove the draperies from the curtain rod and set them aside.

    • 2). Remove the traverse curtain rod from the brackets and place the rod face down on the floor or a large table surface.

    • 3). Cut and remove the old cord using scissors. Untie knots at master carrier A. Remember this carrier as you will do your new knots here. Insert new cord through the right-side hole in master carrier A and tie a knot.

    • 4). Take the cord to the right end of the rod. Thread it over the top pulley and back to the left between the top and bottom pulley.

    • 5). Thread the cord through the bridge of the underlap (second) master carrier. The bridge is a series of holes at the top part of the master carrier.

    • 6). Take the cord to the left between the bottom and top pulley. Bring the cord down (allowing all of the excess cord to fall as this is the cord that will be along the side of the drape later for operating the drapes). Take the end of the cord back up and over the top pulley (it will now be heading to the right side). Thread the cord end through the left side of master carrier A and tie a knot.

    • 7). Replace the rod in its original brackets. Slip the loop into the tension pulley (this should be mounted to the wall and be above the bottom of the drapery). Draw the cord until master carrier A is as far right as possible.

    • 8). Holding both cords tight, slide master carrier B as far left as possible. Lock the cord into the locking finger on the back of master carrier B.

    • 9). Take up the cord slack by going to master carrier A. Pull the knot that is closest to the right until the cords are tight. Tie a new knot as close to master carrier A as you can. The cords should not have any excess slack at this point. Pull the side cords to make sure they are working properly and then cut off the excess cord at master carrier A. Rehang your drapery.
