How to Clean Germs Off of Wood Flooring
- 1). Move furniture and other items to another room in order to expose as much of your floor as possible.
- 2). Fill a spray bottle with vinegar. This substance can be used to disinfect surfaces, including wood. Vinegar is safe to use and will not cause damage to your floor.
- 3). Spray the entire surface of the wood flooring with a mist of vinegar. It will kill germs on the floor and help to remove tough dirt and stains.
- 4). Fill a spray bottle with hydrogen peroxide. This can be purchased at your local drug store or discount store.
- 5). Spray a mist of hydrogen peroxide on your floor. This will kill any remaining bacteria from your floor as well as help to remove any unpleasant odors. If certain areas of the mist begin foaming, that indicates a presence of bacteria. Apply a second and third application, until the foaming ceases.
- 6). Allow your floor to air dry. This will give the substances adequate time to effectively kill germs and bacteria.
- 7). Scrub the entire surface of your floor with a clean dry cotton cloth to remove any dirt and residue released by the vinegar and hydrogen peroxide.
- 8). Buff your wood floor with a quality oil soap, using a microfiber cloth, in small circular motions. This will keep your newly disinfected floor looking clean and showing a nice luster.
