Overcome an Obstacle on Your Bike
Here are a few techniques you might want to know for those times when you have to climb a kerb or any other kind of obstacle.
The first step you need to know is very simple.
First of all, you need to come near the obstacle at low speed.
When you are in front of it, you have to pull your handlebar upwards.
Also, you should know that if you have a relatively low speed, you should have enough propulsion to climb with your front wheel.
The second step is also easy.
Once you have lifted the front wheel, you have to pull the back wheel, too.
Here is how you can do that.
You let all your weight on the front side of the bike, you lean forward and, for starters, you hit your front brake, so that it is much easier to lift the back wheel.
This way, you can overcome your obstacle.
In order to climb with your back wheel, too, you need to put your feet in a certain position.
If you don't want to overcome the obstacle by hitting the front brake, you have to use your feet to lift the back side of the bicycle, too.
Your feet should be around forty degrees away from the ground and it is even easier if you have special pedals.
By the time you get to step number four, you should have already climbed the kerb or your obstacle.
Therefore, you pull your handlebar upwards, you climb with the back wheel, you lean forward and you use your feet to lift the bicycle.
Good luck!
