    • 1). Spread newspaper onto a work surface ready to start. Blow up a balloon to the size of your head and tie the end to keep in the air.

    • 2). Draw a vertical center line down the balloon from the head to the bottom with a black marker pen.

    • 3). Hold the balloon up beside your head and make sure the head of the balloon is level with your own. Ask someone to draw a horizontal line across the balloon at your eye level. Measure the distance (with a ruler or tape measure) from the bridge of the nose to the outside corner of your right or left eye. Write the measurement down. Measure the distance from the bridge of the nose to the inside corner of the eye and note it. Mark these measurements with small dots onto the eye line on the balloon.

    • 4). Use an image of the Daredevil mask to help you to draw the outline shape of the mask onto the balloon. Draw in the eye outlines within the marked points.

    • 5). Cut out two small devil-eared shaped triangles from cardboard. Stick the cardboard ears on to the balloon using masking tape.

    • 6). Tear one-inch strips of newspaper or scrap paper. Dip each strip into wallpaper paste. Stick each piece of paper onto the balloon within the contour lines. Place stripes around the eyes so not to cover them. Apply three to four layers of papier mache.

    • 7). Leave the papier-mache Daredevil mask to dry overnight.

    • 8). Paint the mask red. Pour an equal amount of acrylic paint to white craft glue onto an old plate and mix. Apply the paint with a craft brush. Allow to dry for at least an hour.

    • 9). Prick the balloon with a pin. Trim the mask edges with scissors to remove rough edges, if necessary. Try your mask on to ensure it fits.
