Perfecting Your En Suite With Bathroom Furniture

An en suite bathroom is a wonderful luxury that can make domestic life much easier and more comfortable. Master bathrooms often have to be designed to be quite hardy, to withstand heavy daily use, whereas en suites can generally afford to be a little more elegant and refined.

The only drawback to en suite is that they are often limited in size. In smaller bathrooms, cloakrooms and en suites, the key is to achieve balance between all of the amenities and furnishings that you want to have available, whilst retaining the maximum amount of free floor space possible.

The best method to create this harmony between form and function is to find multi-functional fixtures and fittings that look stylish and perform with high efficiency. To begin with, in smaller spaces, storage should be a priority. All bathrooms tend to accumulate toiletries, cosmetics and cleaning products over time, and without sufficient storage, all of these mismatched and multi-coloured products can quickly make any room, especially one as small as an en suite, feel cramped, cluttered and overcrowded. By providing sufficient storage, all of your daily essentials can be organised, categorised and kept neatly out of sight and yet within easy reach.

This will allow you to keep your surface areas as clear and calm as possible, which will help to keep the room feeling as spacious as possible.
A fitted basin vanity unit is a great first option, as it will fit flush against your walls and floor and won't intrude into floor space other than that which usually goes unoccupied. The arrangement of cupboards and drawers, of finish and styling is up to you, but a fitted vanity unit will solve a large portion of your storage issues.

Two other fantastic storage options are wall-mounted cabinets, great for their unobtrusive presence and deceptively large internal capacity, and mirrored cabinets. Upgrading from your current bathroom mirror to a mirrored cabinet, will retain the same light and space enhancing qualities before, but will also help you to store bathroom products at eye level for instant access. Wall-mounted cabinets, whether mirrored or not, are a great place to store and medicines and supplements out of reach of any younger members of the household.

Other multi-functional upgrades could include a heated chrome towel rail. These stylish, contemporary units will provide you with warm, dry towels when you need them, will heat the room and look fantastic at the same time. A bath-shower combination unit is also an installation that can be really rewarding, or if you're brave enough, simply doing away with your bath (if you have one) altogether!

Remember that in smaller spaces, a well-lit room will always appear to be larger, so opt for light coloured walls and bright bulbs. An illuminated bathroom mirror can provide extra lighting, as well as creating an extra designer flourish, lending a real flair and panache to your en suite.

These rooms are designed to be a luxurious extra; an addition intended to make life easier. So with a little planning, and by implementing these upgrades, you can create the perfect en suite bathroom that does everything you want it to, and looks amazing at the same time.
